What is Pecky Cypress?

Cypress is known as one of the most durable American wood. Cypress trees are often attacked by a fungus which  causes deep furrows, pockets or holes and that particular lumber is  known as PECKY CYPRESS.

The unique appearance of the grooves on the surface of Pecky Cypress lumber lends to it artistic effects of a very unusual character making  it possibly the most favorable interior finishing material for  flooring, ceilings, kitchen islands, bathroom cabinets, accent or  feature walls, architectural element for fireplaces and mantels. Its great resistance to atmospheric changes and decay also makes it one of the best construction material for exterior entry doors, windows and patio ceilings.

  •  Once cut, the fungus in Pecky Cypress ceases to grow or live
  •  Pecky Cypress is remarkably resistant to decay and insect attack including termite
  •  Pecky Cypress shows very little shrinkage or expansion when exposed to moisture
  • Pecky marks give the wood an antique effect
  • Pecky Cypress can be stained or sealed
  • The Pecky marks or holes on Pecky Cypress can be closer together in certain pieces than they are in others

Pecky Cypress is a character-filled wood adding architectural statement anywhere it is used
